Dr. Izer is a native of Texas and performed his undergraduate training at the University of Houston graduating Summa Cum Laude. He received his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas and finished with high honors.

During his internship at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan he was named Intern of the Year and has recently completed his residency at the University of Michigan, W. K. Kellogg Eye Center where he was the Chief Resident. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Izer and his wife Gina have a six month old daughter Sofia.
