BOTOX/XEOMIN

BOTOX Cosmetic and Xeomin are used to temporarily improve the appearance of forehead creases, frown lines, “crow’s feet” and vertical lines in the upper lip. It is a simple, non-surgical procedure often chosen as an alternative to cosmetic surgery.

Ophthalmologists were some of the first professionals to use BOTOX medically. BOTOX was first approved in 1989 to treat crossed eyes in children and uncontrolled blinking or facial spasms in adults. In 2002, BOTOX Cosmetic® was approved to treat frown lines between the brows in people 18 to 65 years old. Since then, it has been used safely and effectively in millions of patients. In 2010, a more purified form of BOTOX called Xeomin was approved for cosmetic injection. The physicians at ITEC are very experienced in treating such conditions in the office.

At ITEC, injections are performed using a tiny needle just under the skin. The treatment takes less than 10 minutes and involves a few small injections. Discomfort is minimal and results may vary. Most patients can return to their normal activities immediately.

BOTOX Cosmetic and Xeomin are different forms of a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium which reduces the activity of the muscle that causes a fine line or wrinkle to form. Results are usually seen in a few days. The treatment lasts for 3 to 6 months and may be repeated if necessary.

Dr. Elizabeth Murphy and Dr. James Izer offer BOTOX Cosmetic and Xeomin at our Montgomery office and would be happy to discuss your BOTOX options with you.
